My LB is 14 months and is waking between 4 and 5am! it doesn’t matter what time he goes to bed he still gets up this early, every morning I try to get him back to sleep sometimes he will for about an hour but the majority of the time he does just seem completely wide awake, we always stay in the room with the lights off and white noise on until 6am and then I take him downstairs!
He has a morning nap for about 30-40 minutes at 9am-9:30 and then I wake him up and I let him nap for as long as he wants in the afternoon but he has started waking up upset after about 30-40 minutes too, I’m assuming it’s because he’s still tired
Any suggestions please as I am exhausted 🤯

What time does he go to bed?

It may sound perverse but have you tried an earlier bedtime? I know it sounds a bit contradictory but many seem to swear by it.

My DS was on one nap at this age, I know this will be hard to implement because he’s up so early but that also could be worth a try if you could power through until about 11.

Sometimes it's just how it is. I have a very early riser and it's hellish but it does get better. They just grow out of it. Which is a shame as that leaves you powerless really. It's a shame we can't just throw money at the problem.

Other things I've found that help are spending lots of time outdoors in the day but not great for January!

I made bedtime earlier as I knew I couldn't control the wake up time but I can control bedtime. That way they got the amount of sleep that's recommended at least.

Didn't help with the early rising and I had eveyone helpfully telling me to make the bedtime later. That was annoying.

DS isn’t as extreme as this but always up before 6, and later bedtimes don’t work here either! I’m the same to be honest: once I’m awake I’m generally awake even if I’m still tired. But of course I don’t shout until someone comes to get me Grin

I was thinking he could be ready for 1 nap a day, but not sure how I'll go about it with him being up so early, like this morning he was up at 4:15 😅
