9 month old won’t sleep in cot

My dd won’t sleep in her cot for naps. The minute I put her in she is wide awake and I can’t soothe her to sleep.

Because she used to have reflux I would always have to hold her up after a feed . so she got used to falling asleep in my arms.

I’m trying to get her to nap in her cot and not on me. If I feed her to sleep she wakes up confused after 2-3 minutes, if I rock her till she’s asleep she’s awake the second she touches the cot mattress. If I rock her till she’s drowsy it’s the same thing. I’m trying to stop feeding her to sleep as I’m going back to work soon and want to wean off breastfeeding.

I don’t know how to get her to sleep in her cot for naps. Night time is bad but she will sleep in it for an hour then she wakes (I settle her back to sleep), then she wakes aroun 21:30 and won’t stop crying to she co sleeps with me. I don’t know how to get her to sleep in her cot in the day as it’s making life so difficult.

No help but solidarity! My DS has never napped in his cot. I've tried putting him in awake, asleep... Nope. Not happening.

He won't feed or rock to sleep in the day either, I have to take him out in the pram. He starts nursery soon and I've just got to hope they find a way (I hear they do).

We have better luck at night time, but have to wait at least 10mins before transferring him into the cot to ensure he's in a deep sleep.

Again, no answer but solidarity (although I love the snuggles) but for reassurance my DC started nursery this week and has gone straight into a cot, no fuss ... I don't know what they do (other than exhaust them haha) it really is nursery magic lol!

They do have to learn this skill, it'll take time. Try the No Cry Sleep Solution.

It’s harder to fall asleep in the day than at night, so if she can’t do it at night unfortunately it’s unlikely to happen during the day.

The only thing that worked for us was sleep training. Once my DS could fall asleep by himself he slept happily in his cot all night, and for naps.

I always recommend Dr Ferber’s book - it’s great for understanding sleep.

I read that book.

Sadly DS didn't.

Sleep training. She'll eventually sleep when/if she's not being provided the alternative options.

Hard few days for several easier months.

This forum consistently judges this approacg, however my DC is 8.5 months been in her own room since circa 3 months, and sleeps from 7pm to 5/6am.

Whereas there are no shortage of threads in this forum of people who co-sleep or choose no cry solutions. Not judging, that's my 2cents.
