Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me this gets any easier because I've got to a point I feel like I'm failing and could do with some sleep 😫💤

So for the last 3 weeks I've been trying to get my DS (10 months) use to his cot so we can all have a better night sleep in the long run. But I don't seem to be getting anywhere. He has a bath, bottle (feed him in rocking chair in his room) then he goes in his cot around 7-7.30pm EVERYNIGHT.. He usually falls asleep on that last bottle so doesn't notice he's actually going in his cot 🤦🏽‍♀️.. But between 12am-3am he is screaming until I come in his room. So I'm sat next to his cot 60% of the night. Depending on his cry if he sounds hungry I may feed him then back in his cot. 3 night ago he slept 7.30pm-7am in his cot with no wake ups. It was a dream lol! But after 3 weeks of very little sleep I'm so nearly ready to give up and bring him in my bed just so I can get some sleep! But I've come this far! 1 hours sleep, poorly, and left for work at 6.30am 😫 (only do 1 day a week for now) .. does it get easier ?!

Yep, he will eventually sleep on his own and yea you can bring him into your bed so you all get more and better sleep! Promise you won’t still have to bedshare with a teenager 😂

It doesn’t sound like he’s ready to sleep alone. Sleep is developmental, they all change and get to independent sleep in their own time. You can try to force it but you’ll probably get more sleep if you just keep cosleeping and try again at another time when he’s more ready. Could you side car the cot to your bed so he’s still close but has his own space there and leaves you more space in the bed?

Do you not think? Last night was a better night. Woke up once but I tapped his back and he went straight back off. Could be a one off, we will see tonight 🤷🏽‍♀️🤣

If it was me, I would stick at it. As you say you have come this far! Sleep isn't a straight line, and I didn't want to end up with a lump of a toddler not being able to sleep without me. My little boy is 2 in a few weeks and he's sleeping great- but we worked hard to get him there (and no, we did not neglect him!)

Mums needs are important too. People are quick to judge and focus on baby, but mum is important too. Don't forget that. If I were you I would be focusing on long term gain seeing as you've come this far!

Oh wow! We'll done for sticking it out! Was it as tough as I think it was?? 😫 I know all baby's are different but just out of curiosity how long would you say it took to get that far?
Yes you are right. Mums are important to. We are only human and need sleep!
Last night he went to bed @ 7, woke at 4, had a bottle and straight back to sleep till 7. So that's another good night. I don't want to jinx it but I THINK we are getting somewhere!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I think you are getting somewhere too!! Just don't forget it's not a straight line - there will be nights (or even full week(s) at a time) that he will protest and try to take you back to where you were before - but the key is consistency, keep doing what you are doing and he will realise that you are boss and that you aren't going to give in.

It's really hard to say how long it took us... our issue was slightly different to yours, he never really slept in our bed - our issue was he wouldn't go to sleep at night without being held, and woke up multiple times and again we were up for hours holding him. He also was good for months and then had a massive regression at around 18 months (which coincided with him being quite unwell so we went soft on him and went back to holding him to sleep which undid all the work we did!)

From my experience each phase of teaching them doesn't take too long , maybe a month? And it sounds like you are on track - but as I say it doesn't mean its fixed for good. I do think he's out of trying to protest now and hasn't "regressed" in a long time now. He does of course have some nights were he doesn't want to go to bed and will mess around and try and get us to come and bring him back downstairs, but that doesn't last longer than 20-30 mins, and it's rare.

Good luck, sounds like you're smashing it!
