Do toddlers just have a new ‘waking’ time one day?

DD (3y7m) has, for the last week plus, gone from waking at 6.30ish to waking at 5am. There’s even been the odd 4.30am 😕 she falls asleep between 6.30 and 7.30, and stays asleep until then - no night waking. At first we chalked it up to a weird episode, thinking the tiredness would catch up with her after a few days. But it hasn’t! She’s back from nursery (no nap) with more energy than ever, dancing around and very happy.

I worked out she’s getting about 10 hours a night rather than her usual 12. Is this just her ‘new normal’? Thanks!

I wouldn't have thought it's her new normal-I imagine it'll be a phase like everything else! Unless it continues and she may need a slightly later bedtime or to skip the nap if she's still napping at nursery which some nurseries seem to insist on! X

Thanks; she’s hasn’t napped at nursery or home for about a year now, so definitely not that. I was going to try later bedtime tonight but have lots to do in the evenings 😬 and she fell asleep in 5 minutes so must’ve been tired.

Thanks! She doesn’t nap at nursery, and only at home every few weeks if she’s had an exceptionally busy morning, so I don’t think it’s that. Hmmm…

Yikes I posted 3 times because each time the comment didn’t appear 😂
