18 month old middle of night tantrums

Hi.
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
mMy daughter is almost 18 months and has started waking up around 1am every night with the most horrific tantrums.
She goes to sleep on her own in her cot at night, and then usually comes into bed with me when she wakes around 9 and we cosleep the rest of the night. This has been her routine for months.
The last couple of weeks she seems to wake up immediately furious and screaming, doesn’t want me to hold her or comfort her and my husband ends up taking her downstairs to sleep where she will calm down.
I know it’s not a good solution but I don’t know what to do with her. She’s never like it during the day. Her language isn’t great so she can’t express what’s wrong.
Does anyone have any experience? I ve read about night terrors but I m not sure it’s that, it’s almost like she’s just furious she’s woke up and rather than go back to sleep she has a huge tantrum instead.
please advise

Sounds very much like night terrors to me

Agree with the night terrors.
My child had them, they looked awake but really were not! The screaming and crying once went on for 45 mins, unable to placate. We learnt to just be there, reassure and soothe.
It's hell at the time, but it does pass.

Thanks for your replies. So if it is potentially night terrors is it best for turn on the lights and try and sooth so she can see where she is? I ve tried to avoid that so far.
I m concerned we might be setting ourselves up for more problems by taking her downstairs, so keen to try something else.
