What time will my toddler likely wake up?

Hello

DD1 has missed her nap today and I'm aiming to put her to sleep for 6.30pm. She usually goes down at 8pm.

What time can I expect her to wake up tomorrow? She usually wakes around 7.15-7.30am.

If that was mine I would be expecting a either a 12am or 4am wake up

She's been waking up at night anyway last few nights so we thought we'd drop the nap today especially since she wouldn't go down when we tried!

Hoping she sleeps until at least 5ish

She won't sleep til 5. She'll wake at around 2 full of energy to teach you a lesson Grin

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I blame my DH. it was his idea. He can entertain her at 2am

She doesn't seem tired right now. Probably overtired.

Shall I put her to bed at her usual time?

DD is in the middle of dropping her nap. A few weeks ago she slept 545pm - 630, so there is hope!

Keiki · 30/12/2022 18:06

Either 4am or 8am 😂

No, don't put her down late that'll do the opposite. She'll be so knackered you'll get an early wake up. DS is 3.5 and he just dropped his nap - we do 6:30 bedtime with 6:30 wake up, or 7pm bedtime with 7am wakeup. Because he kept his nap until quite late I only let him have an hour towards the end and then put him down late (normal bedtime is 7pm), so with the 1h nap he was doing 8pm-7am, so now without the nap he has just added the extra hour onto the beginning of the evening. Hopefully yours will do the same!

Dd used to sleep 6:45 - 7:45 regularly when she was 2 right into reception. DS would have meant a 5am alarm call.

@somuchtolearnabout that's what my DD usually does when she naps! She's nearly 2 and it's getting more and more difficult to get her down for her nap.

DH is putting her to bed now as I have to see to DD2. Hopefully she'll go down easily and sleep through!

I think we'll have to wake her earlier moving forward so she still has her nap.

We went through this too, it was taking him forever to go down for a nap and then forever to fall asleep at night. I prolonged the nap probably longer than I should've because I loved the break (DS2 does a 3h nap so it was sweet sweet silence while they both napped) but in the end he just refused to go down, so I had to accept it was over. It wasn't as bad as I thought, I make him have down time still over "nap" time, so we sit and watch a movie or do puzzles etc - something which doesn't exert too much energy. And it means they're both in bed by 7 again so I get my evening in peace. It's a sad day when the nap goes 😭 but you'll know when she's ready.

Update: the night was awful. My husband coslept with her and even then she woke up several times.

Moral of the story: late nap and bedtime is better than no nap!
