Morning mumsnetters,
I'm really at a loss as to what to do. Dd is 15 weeks and at a stage where she is constantly shoving everything in her mouth. I've tried her with teething toys (GP says she isn't teething) but she has a penchant for her fists. I know this is part of normal development but the problem is she is quite a sicky baby and has a very sensitive gag reflex to the point where she'll put her hand in her mouth and be sick absolutely everywhere. She does this multiple times a day which results in outfit changes which I can deal with but I'm mostly concerned that she's started doing it at night.
She sleeps in a lovetodream sleeping swaddle bag with her arms above her head (only way she will sleep longer than 45mins) but has recently started to chew the material by her arms and pushing her fists into her mouth through the sleeping bag and has been sick and has woken up choking on her vomit the last three nights. Luckily I heard her as she sleeps in a snuzpod so I could whip her upright so she didn't choke. Last night she did it three times. It's absolutely terrifying and I've had to practically hold her hands down to stop her doing it which makes her cross so she screams the place down so no one gets any sleep. I'm then so frightened she is going to choke that I just watch her and end up flinching every time she moves and cannot switch off in case she chokes again.
She won't take a pacifier (I've tried many times with a range of brands and she just gags on them and spits them out) she isn't hungry (EBF and fed to sleep) and she cannot have access to her hands or she'll choke herself. I put her in a tommee tippee sleeping bag last night which keeps her hands by her sides but it didn't go down well as it's so unfamiliar to her so I lay awake gently patting her until she drifted off about 5am after initially being sick all over herself at 12.40am and crying until 4.30.
Genuinely don't know what to do. I'm so frightened she's going to choke in her sleep but I cannot for the life of me see a solution.
Answers on a postcard are greatly appreciated from a very frazzled and tired mum 🙃
