Light sleeper?

Do babies get used to noises? Right now I feel like the slightest creaky floorboard wakes up my 8 month old. A Deliveroo at the front door definitely does. We don't use white noise etc and I would rather not introduce these things but it's obviously annoying when LO is woken at random things. Anyone else? Would love to know how others have dealt with this?

The key is to get them used to sleeping when it’s noisy. If you create a perfect, silent environment for them, anything other than that and they’ll struggle.
We always put our LO down with the TV on in the next room, music playing, talking to each other/on phone etc. They got used to sleeping anywhere!
I also found a continuous noise (like the radio) was a good idea. That way a sudden creak of a floorboard won’t be so loud and unsettling for them.

@MissTiggywinkles excellent point. It is rather peaceful at home. It's odd, last weekend he slept through drilling and all sorts. But yesterday, Deliveroo woke him up. He's 8 months, am I too late to start making it noisy?! I don't really want to introduce sthg like radio where then I have to keep that as it will become a crutch.

5yo sleeps through just about anything these days. He did used to wake up soon after we came up to bed when about 18mo and i think maybe it was disturbing him at just the wrong point in a sleep cycle, but now, a bomb could go off and he wouldn't notice. Which makes waking him for school a challenge at times....

I would three million percent use white noise, I still do for my children aged nearly 5 and 3! It gives them a lot of comfort xx
