Cat napping 9MO

DD will not sleep more than 33 minutes at nap time unless she’s in a car seat, buggy or on me. If she goes into her cot you can set the stop watch to 33 mins. 3 x naps a day.

I’ve read on previous threads people saying you need her to self settle, but what witchcraft is that… how do I do that?

At night I’m very lucky, she sleeps 12 hours 6:30-6:30, very rarely waking up. If she wakes then often she will get herself back to sleep or goes back to sleep with a little shush pat. I’ve never had ANY success doing this with the day time naps.

The room is dark, quiet, no stimulation and only ever used for naps.

I would say sod it, she must be fine. But I get the feeling she’s tired a lot in the day, lots of signals. And on me, in the car/buggy, she will nap for an hour and a half so she obviously wants it but can’t achieve that in her cot.

The cat naps are making her cranky and stopping her from moving to a 2 nap routine.

What can I do?

My DSIL had success with putting them to sleep somewhere else Imi the daytime. She had a single bed in their room with a bedguard.

If you get 12 hours a night I'd change NOTHING. I'd give you a million pounds right now to swap

It’s relatively new from 8 months, she was a terrible sleeper before then, up every hour! I hope your DC sleeps better soon, it is very hard when they don’t x

I haven’t tried this actually, I will give it a go and see if it works. I have the travel cot set up in the spare room so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 thank you

The 12 hours is great and I know it’s good for her development. I just worry I’m being a bad mum because she gets so tired during the day, rubbing her eyes, yawning and sometimes crying, but will not nap very long at all despite trying…

Im a FTM and baby sleep is so tricky to crack!

Count your blessings. I'd love 12 hours at night.
If she sleeps 33 minutes, that's all she needs, there's no right or wrong amount.
It's normal for naps to be shorter in a cot, you could let her nap on you if you want a longer break. But then she'll likely won't need as much sleep at night.
