Have you tried leaving several glow in the dark dummies in the cot? Ds would find them himself. We recently stopped dummies at 2.3, he understood that 'the dummies were going back to the shop for the babies'. He was gine with that. Any earlier then that would have upset him too much.

Several glow in the dark dummies worked with ours for a while and then he started to chew through them so they had to go.

Sorry to say but cold turkey was the best and easiest solution to the problem. No point in dragging it out and at 1 he forgot pretty quickly so in hindsight it was for the best in the long run.

We had 2 tough nights but it was better than prolonging the inevitable.

Not a silly question at all. We used shush pat and it worked well. I'm not going to pretend there were no tears at all but it was short lived and better than the risk of him swallowing a piece of the dummy.

Think will give it a go at the weekend! Thanks for the advice
