Gro-Bag to Duvet, Cot-Bed to Bed

Need a bit of advice on how to proceed.

DD (2.3) is in a 2.5 tog gro-bag in her cot-bed. She's quite happy like this and has never shown any signs of climbing etc.

I'd like to keep her in her cot as long as poss!

However, her room gets pretty chilly in the mornings but it's pretty warm in there till about 10pm. Temp range from 17 - 22 depending on weather and humidifier etc.

I cover her with a blanket when I go to bed but she'll have kicked that off by 5am when she starts getting restless and she's awake by 6am thru being chilly.

I am toying with the idea of putting her into a 1.5tog bag and introducing a cot-bed duvet about 10pm. She does like to burrow down and sometimes I'll go in and the blanket will be over her face!

Should I just bite the bullet and convert the cot-bed at teh same time as introducing the duvet?

Am very concerned about over heating etc.

BTW, have had to turn radiator off in her room due to humidifier cranking up the temp so earlier heating is not an options (plus boiler in my room and it's loud enough at 6am as it is thanks!)

Would appreciate some advice on how to proceed.

ps: on milder nights/mornings she can sleep till gone 7am so I know 5:30-6am waking is because she's not comfy and when she gets up her legs/feet are a bit chilly.

am also worried about putting her into a bed when the humidifier is in there as she might get up in the night and touch it etc.

needs humidifier as she is a cough/cough/cough/vomit child without it!

I am in a similar situation with my DS, his room is very small and I have to turn the radiator off when he goes to bed as it gets very hot in there otherwise. He is 2.5 and still in a cot and a grobag and duvet as well for the last few months - he loves the comfort of the duvet but needs the warmth of the grobag too, particularly if he kicks duvet off. Temp gets down to about 16deg on colder nights - I think by this age they are old enough to kick off a duvet (even with a bag on) if they are too hot, they are not as susceptible to overheating as little babies, so I would go for it. Dont see any reason to move to a bed until you have to though, I hope my ds stays in his cot until about 15yo as he is a terrible sleeper and I know we will get no peace once he can escape (it hasnt occurred to him to climb out...yet!)

Hi louandben, thanks for the advice.

what tog bag is your ds in? the cot duvet i have is from ikea and seems like a medium tog as it's not too bulky or lightweight.

it's pretty big tho! am thinking i could tuck dd in and pin her down LOL!

agree about keeping them in their cots till teenage years. would be perfect! altho dd is a pretty good sleeper i just know she'll be delighted when she realised she can get herself out of bed.

We have a little electric heater in our DDs room which keeps the temp constant throughout the night...it has a fire guard attached around it so they can't get to it..might that help?

Our girls moved from grobags to duvets and into beds from cots when they were about 2.3 as they were climbing out of their cots and it had started to get a bit unsafe...if your DD's not doing that yet I agree keep her in the cot as long as poss!

hattyellow, yes i've thought about something like that but am a bit wary with the humidifier going in there as well.

altho i could switch it one when i switch the humidifier off when i go to bed.
