Moving breastfed 7 month old into their own room

Just that really, am I going to be wasting my time because of the night feeds? We currently co-sleep and some nights he only feeds a couple of times, other nights it's more frequently. I'm just ready for my own space and evenings back because I still go to bed with him at the moment!

With DD1 I just got back up again once she was asleep! And then just came back to bed at 10 or 11 or whenever.

No harm in giving it a go. I hated my DS2 in our bedroom, he was a fidget and moved a lot, so I couldn’t sleep thinking he was going to wake any minute. We kept doors open, but I got far better sleep. He really loved his cot, he had more room to stretch out.

Ours were in a bedside crib and breastfed when we moved them at that age.

First one went from waking every two hours the night before to sleeping 11 hours straight the first night in her own room. She didn't reliably sleep through until she was 2.5-3, but it was a marked step change.

Second one was up probably once a night at that age and moving rooms made no difference to that at all. I was happier to have our room to ourselves though.

You’re probably waking each other up loads and you may find they need fewer feeds if they are having a sounder sleep. I would definitely go for it!

He's pretty good really, we give him a small bottle of expressed milk just to make sure he keeps taking a bottle (which is hit and miss) then he has a bigger breastfeed but generally doesn't feed to sleep. Then he curls up next to me and goes to sleep. Some nights I can move my pillow next to him and get out without him waking. Other nights I can't! I feel like he is getting ready for his own space.

I did this and it has improved things a bit - now sometimes the odd brief couple of wake ups. But some nights still so shit! Might be worth a try though.

I'm going to give it a go and just see how we get on! Another motivation for this is we have a xmas night out planned for next month and as it is I don't know if anyone else could settle him 🙈

I moved my baba in his own room at 11 weeks and was the best thing I ever did. Slept so much better. He slept through since then. Now 8 months. Sometimes wakes up once but always goes back down after a feed. He's breastfed.

11 weeks, wow! I feel like he's too little at 7 months 😂 I do wonder if we are just disturbing each other which means he's feeding more than he really needs to, although he's not a comfort feeder through the day at all. If he doesn't want it, he's not having it! My first was formula fed so I didn't have this issue!!

It could be. Since weaning at 5 and half months I had expected him to drop feed but nope between 10 and 12 😅 probably why he only sometimes needs one feed during the night.
