Any advice please - my 15 month old has been a good sleeper till about 2 weeks ago when she started waking about an hour after going to bed on a night, 7.30. And then she won’t go back to sleep till I go to bed, her cot is next to my bed. I’m loosing my evening! I’ve tried this evening putting her bedtime back to 8pm but its made no difference.. any advice please & thank you x

It's likely to do with the timing of your daytime naps. What's your daytime routine?

Lizzyloo50 · 12/11/2022 18:33

It depends what we are doing, normally if we are at home she will have a nap around 11 for 2-2.5 hours. Today she was up late and napped after lunch for 2 hours.
I’m worried when she goes to bed that she’s treating it like a nap 🤷🏻‍♀️ Last night I managed to get her back to sleep but as soon as I put her down she woke up within 20 seconds. Thank you for any advice

I think it’s called a false start. I’d adjust her day time sleep a bit - it’s possible if she’s waking at 1:30, 8pm could be too late a bed time. What time is she waking in the morning?

Lizzyloo50 · 12/11/2022 18:47

We normally go to bed at 7.30. She hasn’t got a healthy appetite so I’m worried she’s waking up hungry 🤷🏻‍♀️ I made her some toast and she ate it x

@Lizzyloo50 bless her. My friend used to give her little one weetabix (in the bath) as she found it filling. It’s hard ensuring they’re full. My toddler is a terrible sleeper and I often worry they are hungry. They have lots of allergies so finding food he can eat and fill him up is a minefield.

She’s just had some toast and milk and is fast asleep! Good idea but she doesn’t like weetabix!

Porridge before bed is a good idea. You can get the really fine stuff if she's not usually keen on the texture. Mash half a small banana in it to make it taste nicer, or make it up with a splash of smoothie rather than milk. Brush teeth after though! But 2.5 hours is quite a long nap for 15 months. Does she sleep well after that initial wakeup?
