Sleep sacks for toddlers

I worry about DD 17m trying to walk around her cot in her sleep sack and falling against the bars and losing a tooth! But she throws her blankets off and wakes up cold (she's probably not really old enough for blankets according to official advice anyway). I've seen sleep sacks with legs, but only online, so can't see how thick/good quality they are.

Are you still using sleep sacks for your toddlers? Am I worrying about nothing?

Slumbersac ones are excellent. My 3.5 yo likes to wear her 'walking duvets' from time to time when it's cold!

Mine had fleece sleepsuits at that age, with legs and feet in them

If you are actually in Madrid, look for pijama-manta when it gets cold enough. They have them with feet.

Why do you think she’s not old enough for blankets? I thought official advice was you can use a cot duvet at 1. I only know one person who uses those sleepsuits with legs for toddlers, I didn’t like the look of them as I worry about overheating. We just try to keep toddler’s room around 18 degrees and use blankets. He kicks them off but doesn’t wake up. In the winter we put socks on him and a vest under his pjs if I am worried it will get colder than 18.

Thanks for your suggestions, I‘ll look at slumbersack and pijama-manta.

@TheWurst I remember a while back looking at weighted blankets, and I‘m sure I remember that the general advice (for ordinary blankets) was 2 years, but I may well be wrong. To be honest, I really don‘t see DD having a problem, she‘s got a blanket at the moment and is perfectly capable of kicking it off!

Hi OP, the lullaby trust is a great resource for safe sleep. I was very paranoid about SIDs and followed their advice to the letter. Blankets are fine to use from birth as long as you make sure babies feet are touching the bottom of the cot. We also tucked the blanket under the foot of the mattress so it didn’t rise above the baby’s armpits. He was too small for sleep sacks for quite a while.

Once they are over one, you can use blankets/cot duvets/ cot pillow set etc. DS has been using a toddler pillow and lightweight cot duvet since 18m. The risk of anything happening over 1 is extremely rare.

My DC all used sleeping bags until at least 2. One was in his until 3. Never had any problems falling over particularly. They are quite clever at learning to navigate in them.

Another vote for slumbersac. Bit pricey but last ages. My lo can still fit in last year ones!
