Nappies leaking every night; at wits wnd

Hey all,

Got an 8mo little one who is wearing size 4+ nappies during the day. Like any baby he has the occasional daytime leak but nothing unusual.

For the last 3 weeks he's been having major leaks every night and when he needs changed he gets massively awake then takes 2 hours to get back to sleep.

We've tried double nappies. We've tried changing brands, multiple times. We've tried going up to size 5 just for overnights. Tried going down a size to 4. Also tried reusable nappies. We've tried creeping in and pre-emptively changing him gently (doesn't work, screaming meltdown).

He is kind of a weird rotund shape rn because he eats everything but hasn't started crawling so he is a major barrel belly. But surely lots of babies like that?

Any suggestions please, getting quite desparate!

Thanks so much everyone, really appreciate all the replies. It's so kind of you to take the time to reply.

Looks like the pampers pull ups are well worth a try, and maybe with a pad too if they aren't enough alone.

Thanks again!

You do have the frills round the legs outside of the nappy, don’t you?

Had the same problem and found it was the buttoned vest. Left it open for the most part

Pull ups helped for us too...I used to use aldi pull ups in the day and pampers at night!
Just as an aside though from your OP, size 4 isn't a size down from 4+ the nappies are the same size the plus is just more absorbant.

Yes just to clarify other questions - definitely got the frills out around the legs and he doesn't wear a vest under his sleepsuit. Sleepsuit has plenty room in the crotch region.

Thanks @Rockandgrohl yes right enough I had heard this, but I'm always confused by the fact that the weight guidance is different on the 4+ nappies so it would suggest it's for bigger babies (size 4 is 7-18kg and 4+ is 9-20kg), even though it's not.

He's boy number 2 and we never had this problem the first time but my eldest was an early crawler/cruiser and a skinny Jim, this one is a complete tank. :)

Update for anyone else who stumbles on the thread: pampers pull ups are 100% the answer!

Thanks to everyone for your help
