I've heard of it helping newborns - any experiences with older babies? What's the theory behind it?

Hi Soppy sorry not to get back to you straight away. Basically my ds slept very well until we went away on holiday in July since then he has been waking every night with increased frequency anfd becoming increasingly upset when he does. He is very dependent on hsi dummy at night and does murmur if this comes out, which I never mind getting up for but it was getting beyond a joke and becoming harder and harder to settle him. He does have quite a misshapen head from positional moulding so my mum suggested it might be pressure on his head or neck that was waking him. I was getting to the point where I would have treid anything. We have now had 6 intensive sessions with a wonderful oesteopath who has come to our house to treat him when he has been asleep. It didn't make a scrap of difference to his sleep initally although she did say there was a lot of tension in his neck and skull which if left untreated may have left him with problems later with neck pain, tension headaches etc. We did take him to the GP as well to rule out any other causes for him being so unsettled, he thought he may have tummy ache/colic as a result of a couple of weeks of constipation but then he got D&V so that sorted the constipation out. We were just about to stop the cranio as dh was very sceptical and it didn't seem to be doing anything but she came on Thursaday and said there was a huge difference in his neck and skull and she now felt able to leave him for a week and reassess him. Thursday night and Friday he went straight through, Saturday had one episode of screaming but settled quickly and again last night much more settled. The other thing I did on Thursay and Friday was as I thought I was able to rule out everything else apart from teething pain was give him a dose of brufen prior to settling hoping this would stop him waking in pain. I think the key is to find something to break the pattern of waking. Hope this of some help.
