Hi all,

Hoping for some advice.

I know alot of you will be in the same boat but my DD is waking at 5.15am every...single...damn....day!!
She is 1yo and her wake window is 3.5hr - ish.
Her routine is as follows -

5.15am Wakes
We dont get her out of her cot until at least 6am.
9.30am - nap 45mins-60mins
1.30/2pm - nap 1hr-1.5hr
6/6.30pm bath
7pm bottle/weetabix/bed

We have started going to bed early ourselves just to try and catch up.

Shes so happy and ready to play at 5.15am but its soul destroying.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

It'll pass. Everything does.

Unfortunately she may just be. A lark (as am.i) ! DD was always an early riser, it didn't matter if she went to bed later she still woke early & was just tired/grumpy. She was waking at 6am though but did go through the 5am waking too.

She started waking later during the first lock down when she was 7/8 but even now still sometimes wakes early (yesterday was 5.45)

It's a case of either get up or bring her in with you and try and snooze a bit more. Although if she's happy enough in her cot that you are leaving her for 45 mins ish then I suppose that's fine too.

id like to say it passes but at 5 and 6 my children are still getting up at that time

Early to bed is the easiest to deal with - its much easier changing your habits than a babies habits!
You get to the point were apparently they sleep later (still waiting!) or can entertain themselves for an hour or until a more respectable 7am.

My dd was waking at 5ish at that age but she was hungry so couldn't leave her. Luckily the darker nights helped push her later. If she's awake and content til 6 I'd say you don't really have a problem..? 6 is very respectable.

Vg8386 · 16/08/2022 08:56

6 is lovely but she shouts/cries from 5ish until we go in, put her down, ssh her, then walk out.
Then on repeat until we give in at 6 😂
She has always been a good sleeper going til 6/7 but since 9 months ish it has been 5am and I just wondered if we were doing something wrong with her naps or bedtime?

No, you're not doing anything wrong. We found that whenever there was a change in sleep patterns, it didn't last for longer then two week, so just ride it out. If you start changing things, it'll likely get worse.

whatsthecraic91 · 16/08/2022 13:23

What about dropping a nap? My DS since 13-14 months has had this routine and it works great.

6.30 wake
11.30-1.30 nap
6.30 bed

Oh god OP.
5am would destroy me...

We went through a couple of weeks of that when the clocks went back but later bedtimes seemed to eventually reset her clock!
