DS is 16 months now and until recently he was cuddled/fed to sleep

Now he has no interest in this and if he wakes in the night won't even let us pick him up

He woke up almost an hour ago now, I tried to settle him back down but not having any of it so put him in his cot and he's been making the occasional noise, thrashing about every so often but I can't settle down as I'm just sat here watching waiting for him to scream eyc when I could of had an hours extra sleep by now

He is in the next room so if he needed me and properly cried we would hear

When did everyone get rid of their monitors

I think it is just causing me unnecessary anxiety at this point

When they go in to a proper bed, so for my son 20 months. They can then get up if they need you.

Well he's screaming now anyway, do we think I can survive the hottest day of the year tomorrow with a grouchy toddler on 30 mins sleep 😭

Get rid of it if it's causing you anxiety. We've got to keep ours a bit longer as DS's room is a few thick old walls away and we wouldn't hear a thing without it. I think we got rid of DDs when she was about that age (she is in the next door room).

We kept DD’s much longer but I couldn’t hear her even screaming because of the layout of the house.

We still have one for DS who is 3 but have found it keeps him in bed as he knows we can see him so will ask for something rather then get out of bed 20 times which is what he does if we are away and he knows there isn't one.

If it's causing you anxiety then no point having it still

We kept ours for 3/4 years. Not so much at home but we used it when we visited friends or family and stayed over. We stopped using it around the age of 2/2.5 at home once consistently sleeping independently in a bed.

My lo is 16 months. We use audio and video.

Audio is beside our bed but I don't think volume is on and I don't take around house. Its more for when family are here looking after her if they feel more comfortable with it.

Video we use for naps as I check how long she's been sleeping for not exceeding daytime sleep. Night time it goes on initially then when I go sleep I turn it off. We do that because it can make a clicking noise or reset in night and also connects to my phone so I was becoming a bit obsessive with it so turned it off. I'm up in night at least twice for the toilet or because I wake and go in and check on her.

I still hear my lo when she wakes without either of these and they will let you know if they need you.
