17 month old sleepless nights

Hello. I know this sort of subject has been spoken about many times but after continually googling for a resolution I could really do with some tips please 😴Our little boy (17 months) is in his own room, he has never been a great sleeper. We sit on a chair & wait until he gets himself to sleep (with the odd head stroke) he then sleeps until 11/12pm & has a night feed, I’m fine with that but he is now waking up screaming 4/5 times throughout the night.

We lay him back down, he gets his dummy, we stroke him & then wait. Sometimes he goes straight back to sleep, other times he does seem to struggle to get into a deep sleep & keeps tossing & turning & crying. It’s truly exhausting & we are in & out of him room all night. Please does anyone have any tips? I really don’t want to do controlled crying. Not sure if it’s his teeth? He seems ok in himself.

His routine is wake - 6am, nap 12-2.30ish bed 7.30/8ish. Is it too late?? 😫😫

My DD is 16 months and getting her molars through at the mo and waking lots. Would you consider giving calpol before bed as a trial to see if it helps?

Yes this, does he have his first molars yet? Although I’d give ibuprofen not calpol as it lasts up to 8 hours rather than 4.
Also does he have plenty of dummies in the cot to make sure he can always find one when he needs one.

Thank you both for replying.
@bbqhulahoop I think maybe I can see a bit of molar poking through. I’ll definitely try the medicine, it’s hard when they can’t tell you what’s wrong.
@RandomQuest I’ll try the ibuprofen. He does have quite a few dummies in there but throws them out in a rage! I’ll make sure to top them up & see how he gets on.
Just had my second coffee of the day!
