Hello everyone!

1 year old DD has a new habit of waking at 12/1am. She is wide awake and trying to play! Last night was pretty bad she took 2 hours to go back to sleep.

She usually goes to bed around 7.30-8. Has a 2 hour nap in the day at the most. Yesterday was just 1 hour.

I ended up asleep on her bedroom floor as she wouldn't settle. Couldn't bring her into our bed as she tries to climb off and kicks DH in the back who has to be up at 4 for work.

Does anyone have any advice?

My daughter used to wake very early, we used to bring her in our bed, no interaction, eye contact etc. the only thing we used to say was “it’s time to sleep” and basically ignore her. It didn’t take long for her to get the message.

Thank you for replying!
I did pop her in our bed last night however she kept trying to crawl off it 🙄.
That's a good idea will try no eye contact etc.

How many months is she? My son did this at 18 months and we moved his bedtime to later (once we were sure it wasn't regression or teething). Now goes to bed 8:30/9:30 depending on length of nap and up again at 7/8 am.

She's 1 on Saturday!
I'll try anything at this point!

We had this at this age. I used to sleep on a double sofa bed mattress on her floor and just let her arse about.

Her room is tiny, might be able to fit a single air mattress in there 🤔.

Hopefully it doesn't last long, I miss my bloody bed!

When this happened, I would go in and tell my son that it was bed time.
then tell him lie down and kiss goodnight.
Next time just put him back into bed and say bedtime.
After that just back into bed.
After a couple of nights he got it.

Has she recently started walking? Or is about to? Sometimes happens when they're working on something. Hope it's over fast!

Stick with it OP, repeat “nighttime is for sleeping” and lay her back down. Don’t get her out the cot or pull her in to bed with you etc, she will think it’s exciting fun play time

Shell get it pretty quickly

Has she recently started walking

She's just started to pull herself up!

Thanks ladies will stay strong tonight.

Yup had this when DD started to walk, just used to go in, lie her down, leave and repeat. And nauseum. Took maybe 3 nights and a LOT of screaming.

What time does she either wake up, or do you get her up in the morning?

Peppapig7262662 · 17/06/2022 20:30

She's usually awake 6.30-7ish
