My twins sleep through the night (4MO)

Thought I might share my experience so it might help others out there!

My girl/boy twins were born 36+5 weeks via emergency c-section. As per the hospital’s instructions we woke them up to feed every 2 hours. My milk hadn’t come through so they were on Aptamil and eventually Aptamil and expressed breast milk.

We swapped to expressed breast milk and Mamia from Aldi as it was cheaper and they were drinking more and more.

By the time they were 3 months I didn’t have enough time to pump so they were solely on formula. With direction from the health visitor, we were able to go 3 hours between feeds and then feed them plenty in the day to let them try and go longer at night.

We tried to let them go for 4 hours between feeds at night by bouncing and cuddling instead of straight on a bottle, it was an absolute nightmare. They reverted to being up every 20mins-2hours and I thought I was going to lose it!

So we continued waking them every 3 hours 7pm,10pm,1am,4am,7am and eventually we were back to 3 hours again.

They then started feeding less at their 10pm and 4am feeds so we thought we would let them wake us. They naturally started going 4 hours-ish so we would have 7pm,11pm, 2am, 5am,8am so slightly better.

I do a mum walk and someone suggested Kendamil and a few of them have used it and it seems to work as it’s meant to be thicker. We tried it and now they go 7pm-4.30am which for us is a win!

Hope it helps.

You can get it at Asda, Tesco, Savers and internet. (I think other supermarkets are starting to stock it too)

We always wake the other twin when feeding.

Our bedtime routine is deep bath, baby massage, feed and story time, bounce on an exercise ball for a bit then down.

We don’t believe in the cry it out method.

Daytime, they are only awake for 1.5 hours max! We found more naps in the day make them sleep better at night.

I used 2 Elvie breast pumps

I read a deeper bath will send them to sleep easier as it’s like being back in the womb but obviously be careful!

My twins slept through the night at 4m too, it was later the fun and games started. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Yes, their ages aren't yet 4 months as they were born 4 weeks early so the 4 month regression may yet happen...
I'm currently in the thick of it myself!
