Can 6 week old sleep in pram bassinet at night?

Just arrived in holiday, put our 6 week old to bed in the travel cot and she's completely wriggled out of her blanket in the night. She's never done this at home and normally barely moves.. Now I'm paranoid to let her sleep in there incase she's does it again and the blanket goes over her head. At home she sleeps in a Moses basket with her feet at the bottom end but I also had to put her in the middle of the travel cot because it dipped slightly and she'd be head down slightly on a decline. I think I'd be more comfortable with her sleeping in the bassinet of the pram coz that is more similar to the Moses basket she has at home so hopefully there would be less wriggling and I could put her toe to end as I normally would at home but I distinctly remember buying the pram and being told it can't be used for baby to sleep over night... (it's a silver cross Coast), what should I do? We are away for a week, this is night 1... Help!😖

If you were told that it can't be used for overnight sleep then it can't be used for overnight sleep. Especially not with a 6wk baby, that's prime SIDS time.

Babies that age shouldn't be under loose blankets anyway, how come you're not using a sleeping bag? That would solve your problem.

Honestly the travel cot doesn’t sound fit for purpose.

Are you in the Uk? If so I’d find a shop that sells sleeping bags and continue to use the travel cot.

if you’re not I think I’d use the pram with all vents open. The cot sounds old and worn if it’s dipping.

Just looked up the sliver cross coast pram and the bassinet is approved for overnight sleeping, so I would use the bassinet. In fact they also sell legs to clip onto it to turn it into a Moses basket type thing so I am sure a lot of people probably use it as a long term sleeping solution.

And I'm not using a sleeping bag yet as she's still really small and her head goes through the hole which I deemed more dangerous than than blanket wrapped round her and tucked under her arms...

It's as dangerous. No loose covers at all. You need a sleeping bag suitable for a very small baby so probably not a 0-6 one but a 0-1 or 0-3

Couple of things - I have used a pram bassinet for over night sleeping at that age as my baby at that age didn't roll as I would see the risk being they roll over into the wall of the pram.

Have you looked up love to dream swaddle bags - they come in newborn sizes and great for sleeping

Lastly - when using sleeping bags that looked too big for my baby I sewed on press studs under the arms to stop them rising

Get a newborn sleeping bag!
We used these with my first who was a summer baby:

But glad you figured out the bassinet. I’d complain about that travel cot too, dipping in the middle doesn’t sound right at all.

We used the pram bassinet for overnight sleeping (uppababy vista) - plus had to use a blanket for DS for ages as he was preemie. As long as it has the holes in it - cellular blanket I think they’re called - it’s fine to use if baby is too small for a sleeping bag
