8 - 12week old baby daytime napping

I was wondering if people can share what are their experiences with putting their babies between 8 - 12 weeks down for a daytime nap. Do you have to rock your baby, etc first until they fall into deep sleep before putting them down? Do you swaddle when / if putting them down? Do you actually put them down or let them sleep in your arms? How long do they nap for, some 30 - 50 minutes or can they nap for a couple of hours? If you put them down, what are the conditions, dark room, white noise, etc?
My little one can sleep if lying on me for a couple of hours but when put down into a crib we have anywhere between 30 - 50mins a total sleep (this includes time in arms when rocking her to sleep which can be 10 - 20mins). I can’t see her falling asleep on her own at all, or not wake up if she is not in deep sleep when I put her down (at nighttime, however, she can be put down drowsy and does go to sleep - she does make an incredible amount of noise during the night but doesn’t actually wake up crying and at the moment goes from app. 9:00pm bedtime to first feed around 3:00 - 4:00am). Wondering what people’s experiences are.

My little one is a wee bit older at 14 weeks, but from about 8 weeks she's kind of fallen into a pattern where she just goes to sleep for 45-90 minutes around early afternoon, and for shorter naps mid-morning and late afternoon. We don't have a particular routine - she just goes to sleep, in her pram, carrier, on her play mat... No swaddling or blackout blinds, although she does enjoy listening to running water before bedtime.

Does she fall asleep all on her own when on the play mat? My one always needs help (well, not always in pram or in car), basically if stationary at home and if she doesn’t get that help will get overtired and very cranky… I guess every baby is different, but good to know what other people experience

Yeah, she can be happily doing an activity and then go "right, tired now" and fall asleep. She's fallen asleep during parties, healthcare appointments, video calls with family... She has a few health issues though, so might tire more easily and fall asleep faster because of that? We also have to wake her up a couple of times overnight (for extra feeds, doctors' orders!).

I think every baby is an individual so will have their own sleep/rest patterns. We spent so much time rushing around hospital appointments, etc that if she hadn't been able to sleep on the go and in loud environments, she probably wouldn't have got much rest at all!

All the best to your little one with her health.
