What is your LO wearing to sleep night?

I’m really struggling to know how to dress my baby at night. It’s currently 22 degrees in our room. Baby co sleeps with me and DH.

He is in a 1.5 sleep bag with a short sleeve vest. I feel he should be in a long sleeve vest but DH thinks he will be too hot.

Its hard because I would be too hot to sleep in a long sleeve but I can throw the duvet over my arms

Cosleeping with two adults in the summer I'd say he should be in just a vest

We've had a similar dilemma. 24 degrees in his nursery (he's in his cot alone), so we've gone for a normal onesie, no sleeping bag or vest. He's not bedsharing just in the cot alone, figured he's all covered but shouldn't be too warm with just one layer on!

Do you have a thinner sleeping bag?

My dd's room is currently 24.5 degrees and she's in a short sleeved vest and 0.5 tog sleeping bag.

toddler is in a footless sleep suit and a baby blanket (with the holes) for cover- no quilt tonight! No vest!

GreatStuff67 · 18/05/2022 21:59

I'd just be doing the short sleeve vest, no sleeping bag or long sleeves. It'll be hotter than 22°C between you and your husband.

It was 24°C for us at bedtime last night, but it went up to 26°C in the night. DC started in nappy and 1.5 tog sleeping bag in cot, then sleeping bag removed when coming into bed.

Your baby doesn't need the 1.5 tog in this weather especially sharing a bed. Ideally in this weather just a vest and lightweight blanket. My 17 month old sleeps in his own cot and has short sleeved pjs and a thin duvet which he tends to kick off. I don't agree with co sleeping permanently and only do this when my son is distressed due to being poorly and he always gets so warm even on cold nights!

After my 15 week old seemed to start loosing his sh*t at having any kind of blanket or sheet over him when it got warmer, I have had him sleeping in just his sleepsuit (no blankets or sleep bag etc). The room ranges from 21.5C to 24C and he never seems to get cold - on his best nights he'll sleep 7.30-7.30 with 30 mins wake up for feed and change at around 4am, worst he'll wake after his first 45 mins at about 8.15pm and/or also early at 5am; these I don't think are related to temperature as we had these problems before it got warm. I just got some 0.2 tog sleep bags to try and improve his napping as that is a real problem right now (just about to post on that!).

All babies are slightly different so it can be a nightmare in the summer!

DDs room is 22° dropping to 21ish during the night. She currently wears a long sleeve vest, pj bottoms and a 1. 5 tog bag.

So glad you started this thread, I was wondering the same thing just yesterday. We co-sleep with DD too. She is 15months and she sleeps in a cot sidecar to our bed but she is in close quarters on and off throughout the night because I bf her back to sleep. I haven't been using her sleeping bag (which is 1.5 tog) as our room has been 22 degrees, I've been putting her in her sleepsuit and just putting a blanket on her. If she gets warm she usually kicks it off, I check her temperature in the night just by touching her head and she seems to have been fine. But am wondering if we should get something cooler for her to wear?

linerforlife · 19/05/2022 16:16

21 degrees in my nearly two year olds room. She wears two piece PJs or sleepsuits, and if I think she needs it I put a blanket over her. She would be too hot in a sleeping bag and she's not co sleeping!

ChittyBang1987 · 19/05/2022 20:45

My Los room is 23 tonight. She's wearing very thin pjs, and a 0.5 sleeping bag. No socks.
Usually anything under 21 its pjs, socks and footless sleeping bag, either 1 tog or 2.5 if on the lower end like 19 ish.
