7 month old sleep training

My little one is 7months old. He has never been a great sleeper and we have co slept on and off since he was about 4 months.

We recently got a sleep trainer and things seems to have improved slightly but not enough to stop one of us sleeping in his room.

We are being responsive as the sleep trainer said and settling my patting etc and only if that doesn't work, we pick up for a few seconds and put back down. It is working but very slowly. Still needs lot of settling and dummy being put back in.

His daytime naps were non existent but the last couple days have been great! Although I'm worried that's due to bad nights so he's more tired in the day now.

I suppose I'm just looking for anyone else who has tried this? If I new it would work eventually it would be easier to keep going.

We tried the controlled crying but it didn't really work that well and as he has a dummy I don't think this approach would work well anyway?

Not got any advice really. I started sleep training last night for my 6mo and I was up for 1.5 hrs! I feel broken today! Does it get any easier as im thinking whether to continue again tonight! He still woke up early (5.30!) Any advice your end would be great. Good luck x

I try to settle in the cot and if he won't then I pick him up and put him back down drowsy. Sometimes this needs to be done several times. He now has a cough and a cold so the whole thing has temporarily gone out the window :-(
