My baby gets squashed at the top of his cot

My 7 month old baby rolls about from back to front and vice versa and sleeps well on his side and belly.

But he migrates! So much! From the bottom of his cot to the top. Every morning he will be squished right to the top in an uncomfortable looking position. He sometimes bangs the end of the cot and wakes himself up (and me 🙃) in the middle of the night.

Is this just a phase? Is there anything I can use to soften the top? (baring in mind it's been drummed into me to avoid anything in the cot like bumpers etc as increase risk of SIDS)

Majority of the time I presume he must be comfy enough as he's a sound sleeper and content. Just wondered if others experienced this or if he will learn eventually to settle in one spot 😂

Both my kids were/are like this.

My 7yo now has a double bed as he's huge and still a very active sleeper.

My 1yo just bounces from one end to the other all night.

Both sleep all night so I just leave them to it.

Is he currently learning to crawl? The extra moment in his sleep could be linked to his brain processing what he's learning while he's sleeping. Doesn't help right now, but might reduce once he moves on to the next development.

Hes going through rapid development and repair in his sleep. Im a very 'active' sleeper and so's my son. It may look uncomfortable, but its comfortable to him. If he's sleeping fine I would let sleeping babies lie.

Try putting a couple of books under the cot at the head end, so he's lying very slightly "uphill". I used to do this with DD to stop reflux and it worked but sometimes she ended up in a heap at the foot of the cot so hopefully you can strike the happy medium...
