Is sleep training inevitable for us?

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice on my 6 month old DD. We are trying to transition her from her moses basket into the cot in her own room.

For the last month or she has been in the moses placed inside the cot with either my DH or myself sleeping in a bed in her room with her. From being a newborn we used a swaddle blanket, and she slept really well in it. I have managed to move her to a transitional swaddle 'arms up' sleeping bag where you can unzip the arms, however so far we have only got one arm out. Both out, and she will sleep for 45 mins before waking herself up with one of her hands near her face. I have heard this is a common thing for some babies to do this, she doesn't seem to have grown out of the startle reflex fully yet.

We have tried a few times to go cold turkey and put her in the cot in a regular sleeping bag and it did not go well. Basically ended up giving in and putting her back in the basket in the old swaddle with an arm out and she fell asleep straightaway. However she is fast outgrowing the basket and so we need to make a change soon.

I suppose the swaddle is her sleep association at the moment and I'm wondering how to move on from it. She isn't fed or rocked to sleep at all.

I suppose I'm wondering if she will eventually grow out of the startle thing, and be happier to go in the cot in a regular bag? It feels like two big changes at once though. Has anyone else been in this situation and did you have to sleep train to move forward from it?
