Any tips on getting my 6 mo to stretch his sleep until at least 6am. He's up anytime between 4.45-5.30am every morning. Feeds twice through the night 11am and 2-3am approx. Naps for no longer than 3-3.5 hrs in the day. Some solids through the day. The rooms as dark as it can be (usually pitch black when he wakes anyway! He's not cold. I've been through everything unless I've missed something? Any suggestions before I just come to terms he's just an early riser! 😫

He's only 6 months! It's a phase. In a few weeks it'll be different. In my experience there's not much you can do!

Should also mention he's done this since he was born. With the occasional 6am unless I rock him back to sleep

I’d say 7pm is too early a bedtime for a 6 month old. Average sleep in 24 hours is 12-15 hours of which 9-11 is overnight. If he sits in the middle of average and needs 10h overnight (with 3-3.5h naps) then it’s no surprise he’s starting the day at 5am. I’d make bedtime 30-60 minutes later to start with.

But as a PP said, everything at that age is a phase. You could spend time changing things, for it all to change again in a couple of weeks.

As pp said. Try a later bedtime. If you do later bedtime will take up to 3 weeks to take effect for lo.

What do you do when he wakes early? I suggest delaying the morning feed until 6 am . Also push the first nap back a bit and make sure it's not too long. 8 am for a 6 am wake for example. A slightly later bedtime could also help but I think a lot of early waking is due to an expectation of either being fed, or going into parents bed.

If you try these and there's no improvement in a month, I suggest night weaning will probably help.

Recommended sleeping schedule from a sleep therapist or whatever it is you call them, works with my DS who is 5 months.

Up at 7am
First nap 0830 for 45-60 mins
Second nap 1130 for 90 mins
Third nap 1530/1600 for 30 mins
Bed time at 7

May not work for everyone but it has worked for me Smile
