Controlled crying

I might try this with dc number 4. Can I ask - when you go back in to comfort them at the intervals, how do you do it? Pick them up? Mine wouldn’t stop crying without a quick pick up I don’t think
TIA

I used to pick mine up, put them back into bed properly say goodnight and walk out.

Cool
Did it work? What age did you start?

I think I mostly just laid my eldest back down and rubbed her back whilst sshing and walked back out. I may have picked up once or twice, sometimes it made the crying worse.
Prob took 3 nights to get into a routine- some children are more stubborn than others.

About the same as @OnlyFoolsnMothers
Picking DS would have made it worse, so I just hushed/rubbed his back/gave a cuddle

I only picked up to put them back on their back. Then I'd rub their tummy. I tried not to pick them up if they were in a comfy position.

I just went in, popped hand on bum and one on back. She found it stimulating if we rubbed, etc. Sometimes, I shhhhh, popped dummy in. Within a minute, I was out the door. I didn't talk, no eye contact, etc. I never picked her up as that makes it worse when you put them down. A lot of people do pick up put down though so who knows.

We did this with one of ours. Just went in, said 'It's alright, go back to sleep' and left again.

Saved my sanity, after six months with no more than about 2hrs sleep at a stretch.

Depends on age of the baby, how old is yours?
