Wow - a 12 hour stretch at night!

The total amount of hours sounds fine to me. Both of mine would also sleep anything from 12-16 hours per day but it was broken up into daytime naps and a shorter night-time sleep. For example, dd would sleep for 2-3.5 hours in the afternoon and ds would have two naps; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

DS had a good 3 hours at least a day at that age, plus 12 hours at night. He still needs not much less than that now, I think he just needs lots of sleep.

He still has 2 naps, about an hour in the morning then about 2 lunchtime.

Ahahahahahahaaaaaa!

My 5.5m DS has [counts fingers] 4ish 45 minute naps, sometimes 5, 3 on bad days.

Oh how I dream of a 2 hour stretch of peace!

I know, it's brilliant, I get so much done. And he's reliable with it now as well, I never have to go up to him at all, and quite often have to wake him up to be fed.

Chubby, my dd was like that too. It was sooo tiring. But when she was just over 5 months she suddenly started having a long afternoon nap. Hopefully yours will start to soon

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 09/01/2008 10:42

I expect so Mercy - after all, I go back to work in a few weeks!

robinredbreast · 09/01/2008 10:45

Your lucky from about 4.5months my dd dropped her 2 30min naps now I am only get a nap out of her if we go in the car or for a walk and as soon as we get in she wakes up I can't get anything done these days she's no 7months

pulapula · 10/01/2008 07:52

hi rrb,

My DS aged 6.5mo has 2 naps a day in his cot, usually 2.75-3.5 hours in total, and 12 hours at night. However at nursery yesterday he only had 1 hour at noon! He was shattered by bedtime, but still slept ok at night.

My DD aged 3 still naps from time to time - we put her in her room every day from 1-3pm for a 'rest' (for her and us!). At pre-school she rarely sleeps but they do try if she seems tired. She sleeps 13 hours at night.

kindersurprise · 10/01/2008 08:00

The problem with comparing notes in this case is that babies are so incredibly different.

My DD would have a sleep for an hour or so around 10am then another nap at about 1pm for 2-3. She still slept for 12-13 hours at night.

My friends DD did not nap at all from about 6 months

DD was still sleeping at lunchtimes until she was 5yo. DS still has a snooze (3.5yo). We are a sleepyhead household.

Robin
If your DD seems to cope well with not sleeping during the day, and is well and happy, then that sounds fine (if a bit exhausting for you)

scoggins · 11/01/2008 14:11

IMO (humble as it is) my DD1 who is very content and an excellent sleeper, at 6 months was having 2 naps a day 9:15 - 10:15 and then 12:15 - 2:15pm This carried on until she was about 15 months old and then she dropped the first nap but carried on having a lunch time sleep of 2 hours until she started nursery at 3 Years.
