My DD is 7 months.
Has been sleeping through since september when she was about 4 months old. For the last few months we have been silently patting ourselves on the back at wht a great sleeper she is...sleepe by 7 after bath n bottle then not wakign till 6.30-7. So that was great...until.....
for the last 3 ish weeks her get up time has crept earlier and earlier and its now more likely to be awake at 5!! How i dream sometimes of one of those long lazy lie-ins pre baby!

The only thing that has changed is her feeding times during the day, have alteredthem in preperation for her starting at nursery in a months time - the theory being at least she will have some consistnecy. She now has a bottle when she wakes and then breakfast and a bottle at about 8.45.
Do you thionk she is hungry? Is she wakign earlier and ealrier because she needs/wants that milk? She is currently on 3 solid meals a day and takign roughl;y between 15/20 ml a day. Lst night i upped her bedtime bottle btu she was still wakey wakey at 5 to 5!

HELP!

This happened to my DS at this age too! Similar to you he slept 7-6.30/7 from 4 months but once we introduced 3 meals a day he started waking at 5.30am and did that for 4 months!!

My theory - never proven - is that his digestive system was getting used to all the new food and he was seriously teething and I thinkg some sort of adrenalin was going through his body during the night making him wake early.

My Mum used to always ask if was waking due to hunger but other that getting his milk first thing, he would happily wait for an hour before having breakfast.

The rule in our house was not downstairs before 7am - I couldn'tbreat going into the kitchen and seeing 5.45am on the Microwave!

He grew out if it by a year but even now can still wake anytime from 6am..

thanks foxymagoo, though not for telling me it continued for 4 months!!
Shes also got teeth appearing. I just worry that shes not getting enough milk alongside her solids.
Know what you mean about seeing the time, i hear her cry, roll over and am sooooooo unhappy tp reaad 4.55!11

Try giving her a snack when she has her last bottle at night. Maybe a banana or cereal. Just to make sure she is full up.

hotbot · 08/01/2008 20:37

my dd does this when she has a growth spurt going on, for her we have it every 6 weeks for about 10 days. I am giving her a little rusk andthen her last bottle before bed, but tbh she will only do things her way and we will go with the flow.
tis exhaustung as you know

Swaliswan · 09/01/2008 08:11

when does she have her daytime naps and how long for? Does she seem extremely exhausted by bedtime? If my DD doesn't nap at a good time and for a decent length of time during the day, she wakes early in the morning. I don't understand why being overtired during the day does this but it does seem to.

Hi, mt dd is ten months and has three meals a day but also still has roughly 25/30ml of milk. Would she take more milk? Under 1 this is still their main source of nutrition, so maybe she is hubgry? How much does she take before bed?

Orchide · 09/01/2008 22:00

PP and hotbot - good idea. tonight have added supper to her day which she ate with enthusiasm though only abotu 4 floz of milk at bed time. Think will carry ion with this for a few day sand see what happens.
Swaliswan - she only has fairly short naps during the day - if shes up really early then will have one about 8am, 11, 2 and then a sneaky one about 5.30 else she is too grumpy for words. Shes not super tired by bedtime, in fact today considering pushing her dbedtime back a bit as she was wide awake tonight at 7!
Karen - this is the thing i have been a bit worried about - is she taking enough milk? Though is having 3 good mealsa day with milk, plus a big bottle mornign and evening. i dont think she will actually have more, i always offer her more than i know she will take so she is never suckign on empty IYSWIM. Before bed she normally has 7/8 oz though tonioght only 4

sigh,, they tear your heart out with worry dont they. See hoe it goes you may get a couple of good nights, think you've cracked it, and then they will change
re: rusk and 4ozs, i think if you had a sandwich before bed, you maybe would just like a cup of tea with it ,not a pint?

Thats great - the more good food you can get into them after 5pm the longer they sleep in my experience!

hotbot · 11/01/2008 19:10
