I'm a desperate single mum with an 18 month old who doesn't sleep, she's always napped ok with me (now at nursery full time so hard to control this) but her sleep is appalling! It went through a brief good spell (have no idea what happened) but it's awful again! I Download a book about toddler sleep and the author mentioned reflux/digestion being a problem! This struck a cord with me, because my little girl does not have a problem connecting sleep cycles, but she will sometimes wake up crying as if she's in pain and fart! She has also been drinking a lot of water and in this book it says toddlers with reflux want to drink a lot of water to get rid of the acid! Everything I read makes complete sense, and I will be following this up with the doctor but I just wondered if anyone had any experience with similar? I'm going to buy her a probiotic and see if that helps! Any advice greatly appreciated! And please let me know if there is a better place j should post this.

It's more likely to be to fo with the method she goes to sleep.

You also mention she slept ok with you in the daytime - doyou mean in your arms and physically with you?

If baby has never learnt fully independent sleep, then expecting independent sleep without teaching it will likely lead to an over tiredness cycle.

What happens to get her to sleep at bedtimes and what is her weekend (ie at home) daytime sleep routine?

I have been searching for probiotics this evening and info on reflux as I believe my 14 MO son has it. He is exactly how you've described your LO. He contact naps as he always needs soothing/winding and I believe he sleeps better being held in a more upright position. At bed time he is flat and this is where we have trouble with fussing, fidgeting and eventually screaming.

He has always formula fed to sleep and majority of times will groan himself to sleep... no amount of patting, rocking seems to shift the 'wind'. I've noticed he's also gulping a lot in his sleep.

He's never been a sicky baby but has always seemed more often than not uncomfortable and windy despite infacol, colief, dentinox and formula changes.

Hoping someone comes along with some info and advice.
