10m old suddenly night feeding again ...

DD is 10m but corrected 9m as she was five weeks early. She is formula fed and on spoonfed solids 3 X day (though not huge amounts) and has four daytime feeds, one on waking, two during day, one at bedtime and then a late night feed around 11-12. For ages she was sleeping through, with a dream feed at 10-10:30. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to drop the dream feed and she just slept through from her bedtime feed around seven to 6-7am, no feeds. She did this consistently for several days and then suddenly, a few days ago, began waking at 11-12 for a full feed (7oz) and then again at around 4-5 for another full 7oz! I'm totally confused - what has gone wrong and how do we go back to sleeping through?! For the full picture, we co-sleep in my bed. Any ideas gratefully received!

Is she actually needing feeding or are you feeding her to get her back to sleep? Her age and the fact you had a number of nights where she slept through fine would suggest she's probably not hungry and you need to try and settle her back to sleep without feeding? Can you increase the amount you're offering her in the day and see if that helps?

The type of crying seems like she's hungry - I try to settle her with ssh and stroking etc but if she persists with the crying, I tend to think she's hungry. She drinks the full bottle. If I offer more regular daytime milk, she doesn't want it and I'm fact she rarely drinks a full bottle during the day ever...

Have you tried offering less at night? You could offer 6 Oz at each wake tonight then 5 the night after etc. Then she can gradually adjust her daytime intake to compensate...might be easier than going cold turkey

That's a good idea, thanks - will give it a go...
