Extending Naps

So DD is almost 5 months old and normally naps every 1.5 hours following the huckleberry app for 45 mins but always seems overtired and upset. Today I tried to extend her nap at 11.30am using a lady on heres suggestion FateDestiny by jiggling her pram around the 30 minute mark and she slept just over 2.5 hours.
She only woke as I turned her white noise off and she came round almost instantly.
Should I be waking earlier? Leaving the white noise on for her to wake naturally? Sorry ftm mum here

What's your routine roughly for lo? If lo is overtired they may need a few days to catch up on sleep x

Well done! That's a great nap success, and you really can't go wrong following FateDestiny's advice, she is very sensible and knowledgeable, and I certainly respect her a great deal. I have a one year old DD and am firmly in the 'never wake a sleeping baby' camp, so I would just leave her to it - as the PP said, she may be catching up after all those short naps, so perhaps review after a couple of days as you may find they naturally settle down to between 1 and 2 hours, so if I were you I would keep up the rocking to encourage linking sleep cycles, and then see what she does of her own accord after that. There are plenty who purposely try and manage nap lengths (cutting some short etc), but I've always just let DD sleep when she wants to sleep, and found that by doing this she's fallen into her own good pattern

Just to add, that if this pattern continues you'll obviously need to review your wake windows after a longer nap (which is great news as it means fewer naps in a day). You mentioned Huckleberry so I've assumed you're following wake windows, which I also did when DD was 5 months. So with following wake windows, getting your DD to link sleep cycles, and taking advice from FateDestiny, you are honestly smashing baby sleep!! ThanksGrin
