What is best for baby to rest in during the day?

I'm currently 24 weeks with my first so everything is very new to me! I just wondered what people recommend for baby to rest in/sleep in during the day? I'm getting the icandy peach pram which has a carry cot that is safe for sleeping, and am thinking of getting a bedside crib for first 6 months (have a cotbed for the nursery). Do I need to get anything else in terms of somewhere for baby to rest/chill during the day? I keep seeing baby nests but hear mixed reviews on them. Let me know thoughts and what you think I need as a starter for ten.

I used a sleepyhead, I think they’re called doc a tot now, a baby nest basically. Used it in the sofa or the floor. I also used it overnight sometimes in the side sleeper crib. DC definitely slept better in it.

We had a Moses basket with handles that we could carry around with us, but it sounds like your bassinet may do the same job. We also had a sleepyhead which was really handy for putting next to us on the sofa or in bed (they aren't meant for unsupervised sleep but I think you need to use your judgement).

Wait until the baby is born. My first slept only in my arms or pram. Second only in sling. Neither would have tolerated a Moses basket, and we had a sleepyhead for my first which he hated (expensive mistake!). The pram is a good option IMO because (a) doesn’t involve buying something extra (b) it’s portable so baby can sleep out and about/at friends’ houses and will have that consistent space, (c) a bit of movement can be helpful to get them off to sleep/settle them so you can just jiggle the pram.

If your hallway is small or your baby doesn’t take to it then the shops will still be there once the baby arrives.

Sleepyheads aren't recommended for safe sleep, have a look at the Lullaby Trust. The bassinet from your pram will be perfectly fine or you could look at a moses basket but my first outgrew that within about 8 weeks so napped in the pram from then onwards. As per PP might be best to wait until they arrive and see how they get on?

Echo PP - sleepyheads aren't recommended for sleep and to be honest you don't need one, it's just extra overpriced kit! A buggy carry cot would do fine or if you didn't want the buggy in the house you could get a Moses basket for your room for while they are small and then you can move that around the house as needed. Our daughter was in her Moses basket until about 4 months and then we swapped her into a travel cot in our room until we moved her into her own room and a normal cot. This minimised the amount of stuff we bought which was only used short term a we will use the travel cot longer term anyway.

Thanks so much - all totally makes sense! And good idea to wait until she is here to see how we get on. We are ordering our bedside crib tomorrow so will have that and the carrycot. I don't want to end up buying loads of stuff we don't use which seems to be so easy to do, especially with your first when you're clueless!!
