Night time routine vs nap routine

So our nighttime routine wasn’t working at all (I admit it was way too chaotic) and DD was taking well over an hour to rock to sleep while crying, so I changed it to a very calm routine and she is now going down drowsy but awake and falling asleep after 5 minutes (I didn’t believe this was possible till it happened to me ha!)

Nap times are still a nightmare and I really struggle to get her to sleep as I suppose nap times can’t have the same routine as bedtime as that consists of bath, story etc and takes around 45 minutes. What can I do to let her know it’s nap time without it taking too long but allowing her to wind down? Her wake windows are around 1.5 hrs.

At the moment I’m putting her to sleep without the blind shut because she will be starting nursery soon and i don’t want her to only sleep in a dark room.

Are her wake windows long enough? My lo is 5 months and does 2 or 2.5 hours.
We always use white noise and close curtains to signal nap. Tbh though a lot end up being out and about in car or pram if we have stuff on

Check what your nursery does ours closes the blinds in the little room set aside for naps

I follow the huckleberry app and so far it’s been pretty accurate. I do stretch them occasionally but this usually ends up with her being over tired and hysterical. I think her wake windows are short because she only naps for 30 mins max.

She naps fine in the car and pram but when we have days at home I dread it because naps are so chaotic.

I also work at the nursery she is going to so I know it’s not particular dark or quiet Grin

I take mine into her room, close the blind and curtains and turn on a dim lamp. Then it’s nappy change and into her sleeping bag and a quick story. Turn on the white noise, quick cuddle and into bed. It generally takes about 7 minutes and 95% of the time she settles in a few mins.
