monitors

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 23:42

A loud buzzer in her room, so that when you get woken up, you press the buzzer, which wakes your dd and makes her get upto her dd

ALomonderfulLife · 01/01/2008 23:48

Monitors, they are great. Make sure they are on loud

Ours are basic Tomy ones (walkabout classic) but are fine.

dd666 · 01/01/2008 23:50

stop still in your bed and your dd's dd will get louder till her mom sorts her!
it will be tough on you but should pay off after cpl nights

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 01/01/2008 23:50

um the only thing i can suggest is waking her up somehow when the baby wakes? would she hear her phone if you rang it?

ALomonderfulLife · 01/01/2008 23:55

I agree with dd666. You need to get the monitors and ignore the crying as much as you can bear. If the monitor is in her room and on loud she will hear it and have to see to her dd.

ok ladies thank you for the advice, its no good ringing her mobile she wont here that, monitors are no good as the baby is right near her anyway, and i cant ignore the baby crying as i cant really leave her longer than 5 mins and i know she wont hear her.i have been looking on google and they do one for deaf people but i dont know if you can buy them ??

my mum had this same problem with me and kept getting up with ds. i am just a deep sleeper. i have to tell her to ignore him and eventually i will wake up. admittedly sometimes she does get up with him but i have told her time and time again the only way that i will hear him is if she lives him to get louder.

turkEgyptlets · 02/01/2008 02:49

it's definitely a case of her subconscious knowing you will hear her. it's like men! they just don't hear after a while because they dont need to. tell her you're staying out for the night. her subconscious will wake her!

I found this baby alarm system for deaf people in the RNID online shop. It has a vibrating pad, and falshing lights and well as the baby monitor. It should wake most people from their slumber! A bit on the expensive side, but worth it in the long term perhaps?

dejags · 02/01/2008 07:33

I am a bit confused. Is your DD deaf Eeyore?

If she isn't then, frankly I am appalled that she doesn't get up to her crying baby. I think you should swap rooms so that she is nearer to her child, so that she can assume her responsibility and get up to her own child at night.

If she is deaf, well then I 'd still swap room and buy the monitor you were looking at for deaf people.

dd666 · 02/01/2008 08:46

Eyeore, both me and dp are very deep sleeper well i was till i had my dd and had no choice but hear her and get up with her dp never wakes up because he knows i will sort dd,
if you leave the baby to cry your dd will get used to it and her body will automatically go into a lighter sleep and wake up.
how old is your dd and her dd?

EEYORE552000 · 02/01/2008 14:41

i do!!! leave the baby i never go to her all i do is wake my daughter.
dejags how can you be appaulled its not her fault if she cant here her !!! she is gaining nothing from leaving her as i DO NOT go to her.

This was my one big fear as I am a really deep sleeper usually. DP stopped hearing her at about 12 weeks so since then it is just me at night

The vibrating pad sounds like a good idea. Are they already sharing a room? You must be exhausted too!

Sorry no real advice just sympathy really!

Mamazon · 02/01/2008 14:52

i was terrified of not waking to my ds when he was born.

i actually think you need to leave her until she does wake. sooner or later she will and her brain will recognise the baby crying as a call to wake up.

if you keep waking her your preventing her from making that subconcious connection.

if she lived alone she would manage, im sure that after a couple of nights she will get there

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 02/01/2008 15:26

i agree it is better to leave the baby to cry until she hears her herself. sometimes my mum doesn't and wakes me up and i'm always in a much fouler mood if i am woken up by prodding and poking than if woken naturally by the baby crying.

LIZS · 02/01/2008 15:32

agree she will hear eventually but wonlt recognise it until you let ehr do so naturally. I have a hearing problem and am pretty deaf if I lie one way but always heard them in the end.
