10 week old waking self up with constant thrashing

After a really rough early newborn period my baby had finally started to sleep longer (5-6 hour) stretches at night. However for the last week she is waking every 45 mins - 1 hour again. I've noticed that she's started to really thrash about in her sleep I think she is now waking herself up every time she enters back into REM sleep. She cries and then nurses back to sleep very quickly. It seems to be better when swaddled, if I keep my hand on her tummy and hold the swaddle on but if I don't have my hand on she manages to break out of the swaddle and wakes up. I've tried using a Tommee tippee grobag with arms but this didn't really help as I think she can still move and thrash about too much in it. Is there another swaddle product that I can use at her age to help with this? Does this get better with age? Please help I was finally feeling human again and I'm really struggle with the complete lack of sleep. She's ebf and won't settle for dp so it's just me :(.

I’m a decade out of practice but I had a special swaddle cloth thing which kept the arms tight by their sides, or my mum would swaddle them Irish style, tight like a little parcel. The key seemed to be to get the cloth wrapped as high up as their shoulders. I also put a couple of books under one end of the cot which helped a bit too.

As an aside I was particularly paranoid about cot death, the peak of which is 10 weeks. Our paediatrician said “babies that wake themselves up don’t have SIDS, it’s ones that sleep too deep.” I found that very comforting.

Good luck, sleep deprivation is shit.
