Sleep training

Hi all

At breaking point, unable to take the frequent waking/ battles to sleep, in need of sleep myself, we started sleep training 4 nights ago. First night surprisingly ok, second/ third horrendous and wondered if I was doing the right thing but fourth (last night) he slept 4 hours before a feed in bed (1130) and then slept 7 hours to morning 7am! Currently doing- pre bed routine of dinner, bath, bottle, when goes to bed at 7pm we don’t pick up again until morning, bottle just before bed and at 1130 in bed, responding 5 minute intervals and shushing/ patting bum until settles

My question is, before bed and his two daytime naps he wants a bottle, so will become drowsy in my arms feeding. He therefore isn’t fully awake to put down. Is this wrong for sleep training? Should he be fully alert to train. More often than not when I put down he wakes somewhat but isn’t fully awake to go down

Many thanks

I always give a bottle downstairs, then with the walking upstairs to go into cot wakes them up.

Tbh if it works and lo is sleeping better go with it, but may be something you may wanna change for future

I also feed downstairs, carry up, then do teeth so she is wide awake going into her room. I think cuddle her and sing and wait for the first backwards eye roll lol… once that comes she goes down awake but drowsy. I don’t think my dd would go to sleep easily if I put her down wide awake.
