How do I get my 16 month old to nap in her bed?

Over the last few months, my little girl will no longer tolerate being put to sleep in her cot and will now only sleep in the pram or car. However, I know she would sleep much longer and be more well rested if she would sleep in her cot. At night she goes down without any issues.
Any ideas?

Leading up to dropping completely I would say. Neither of mine napped past 18 months.

She definitely needs to nap still.

DS is nearly 2y old and since he turned 1y, I have been lying down with him to sleep. We put white noise on, make the room dark and snuggle up. I can leave him in bed once he is asleep and he'll have a good couple of hours nap on average, but he just won't drift off without contact, unless he is in the car as you said. So maybe something like this would work for you too if you have ways of snuggling up?

Also, remember that their sleep pattern will change / alter around this time too due to developmental milestones, brain maturity (maybe teething?) etc so it is not unusual to see some changes, and some things that previously worked may no longer do. Fingers crossed you settle into a new routine soon! ThanksCake

Can you bring the pram into the house and wiggle them to sleep? That's what I do, she'll do a good 1.5 hours if we do that

White noise
Or just let her sleep in the pram in the house. We had to do this sometimes in lockdown.
They soon go back to sleep in bed

Thank you all.

The problem with the pram is that she tends to only sleep an hour max, which while not terrible she often wakes up still grumpy from and I know she'd sleep longer in her bed. Similar for the car (plus not ideal with a 3.5 year old also).

Very happy to cuddle up with her! However, she seems to just end up crying as soon as I try! Up until about 11 months old I used to breastfeed to sleep, but replaced with walking up and down the landing and cuddling - but now she starts to cry and fuss as soon as I try, even when she's clearly knackered.

Is she on one nap a day now? If so when and how long for? Also what do you mean by she won’t tolerate being put to sleep in her cot?

DD1 would only nap in the pram or car after 18 months. It wasn’t an issue as I just left the pram Parked up in the kitchen & she’d happily sleep. She dropped her nap shortly after turning 2. I think the older they get the more you have to force the nap I’m afraid
