4:30am wake ups

Hello!
Looking for some advice as my 13 month old daughter has started waking at around 4:30-4:45am and is wide awake for the day (whilst I am not!)

She goes to sleep at 7 and usually sleeps through now apart from an occasional 5 min resettle around midnight.

She's only getting 9.5 hours of sleep which doesn't seem enough so I'm doubting she's awake because she has genuinely had enough sleep however I'm at a loss of how to stop this!

For a while her nap schedule has been 2x roughly 1 hour naps (9-10am) and (1:30-2:30pm).

Other things:

-Her room is still pitch black at 4:30am we have blackout blinds

-she needs to be rocked to sleep however when she wakes on the night she seems to be able to settle herself back to sleep most of the time.
-I've tried lying her back down and leaving the room but she stands up again straightaway and becomes distraught.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!Smile

9.5 hours straight is remarkable. I’m guessing that the problem for you is that 4:30 is too early not that 9.5 hours isn’t a long enough stretch?

I guess your options are to gradually move bedtime a little later if 8pm - 5:30am would be easier for you. If you went to bed at 10pm then that’s still 7.5 hours for you. There’s a lot of people who swear by early mornings being the most productive time of day.

Maybe time for 1 nap gradually moved to middle of the day?

I would change to one nap. Both my daughters had just one lunch time nap at 13 months.

Yes agree with dropping one nap. We did this around 14 months, because DD was waking up early (around 5:30) and because she had long naps and we just couldn't squeeze 2 in the day anymore. It was hard for her to adjust for a while but then her sleep was amazing again for a long time ..
