Hello

Back story I've got a 8month old DD she's been unwell since about 15th November, coughs, cold, Bronchiolitis, chest infection, ear infection the list goes on. Got antibiotics finally 27th then again on 31st December. Picked up again but then last 2 days back to crying all the time pulling her ears, that's even with taking paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I don't know what to do at my whits end getting next to no sleep. She's normally a happy content baby but I can't remember the last time she was happy for more than 20 mins.

I'm gonna call the doctor back today as her ears are still leaking fluid but I don't know what else it could be 😭

We all isolating so they won't see us.

This is more a moan than anything

Just sending you Flowers Cake Brew

I know it's done to death but I used to chant 'this too shall pass' to get me through the tough days. If you are isolating because of covid they can still see you if needed so don't be fobbed off. Good luck

If her ears are leaking than this is part of the problem. She will be in pain/discomfort. Can you phone to see if you can find a GP (walk in centre or suchlike) where they wear full PPE?

Please be clear to whomever you phone that the current antibiotics haven't helped...

I'm so sorry OP, it's so tough. It does sound like her ears are playing up, but it could also be teething x

We went to the doctors today and got more antibiotics that's the 3rd lot since 27th Dec.

She managed to have a nap earlier and was a bit brighter. Thanks for all the replies xx

Glad to hear that she is a little brighter. I always think it is worth giving prebiotic yogurt when having antibiotics, just to help her gut a little.
Do they think it is an ear infection again?

Rebecca299 · 06/01/2022 19:52

Yeah she's been very poorly. Thanks for the advice she's allergic to dairy will see if there is an alternative xx

There are probiotic powders for baby you can buy which might help her gut after all the antibiotics. My DS had so many ear infections and so many courses of antibiotics and I did find these helped him. Sending lots of sympathy- back to back illnesses is exhausting and it can seem that there is no light at the end of the tunnel! I felt all o was doing was holding my poorly baby or dosing them up on calpol!! It did eventually all pass but the sleep deprivation when he was poorly was next level!

Very happy to hear that she is doing a bit better! But if you don't see a significant improvement after max. 48 hours of taking these new antibiotics or if she gets worse, I wouldn't hesitate to phone them again...

I hope all of you get some sleep tonight. Flowers

Oh your poor baby. Ear infections are the worst. My boy suffers horrendously with them. (17 in 16 months!) ask for stronger antibiotics like co amoxiclav. And antibiotic ear drops. Hopefully that will help. Does regularly with paracetamol and ibuprofen
