How old is she?

gemininova · 03/01/2022 20:50

She's five months!

The temperature change could be what wakes her.
Maybe try draping a blanket over you both while she's falling asleep and then using it to swaddle her?

I have a big family and all of my babies were like this and my honest advice would be in the daytime don’t even try ! Use a sling or hold baby and you really quickly become good at doing everything one handed !

At night I found warming the cot a bit before baby went in and swaddling really helped x

Sideswiped · 03/01/2022 20:51

X-post.
Ok, so she might be past swaddling, so perhaps pre-warm her cot and then remove hot water bottle or whatever you used.

SarahWoodruff · 03/01/2022 20:52

You can also warm the crib slightly with a hot water bottle (obviously be v careful that it's just slightly warm and not hot).

Hopefully it’s just a phase. Although my LG was like this and we now bed share all night. I only used to bring her in with me in the early hours but after she last went through a bad sleep phase, I just have her in bed with me and we both sleep great! I appreciate it isn’t for everyone but if you’re struggling and it’s something she never used to have a problem with, hopefully it’s just a phase!

gemininova · 03/01/2022 20:55

She used to sleep amazingly but the sleep regression seems to have totally changed her! I'm not opposed to bedsharing at all but I always ache so much after it that I don't want to do it long term!

The hot water bottle is a good tip I'll have to get one of them tomorrow!

Hold them for 10-15 mins til deep sleep before putting down. Also let go of their bum last. It goes against most advice to put them down drowsy etc but it was the only thing that worked for me post sleep regressions/development leaps or whatever.

I would try and get her to sleep not on you to begin with - mine always woke up if I transitioned. I do dummy and shush pat. Worked great with one baby, not a chance with the other, so I held him for every nap until suddenly he preferred napping in the cot 🤷🏻‍♀️ think he was about 6/7 months.

MsChatterbox · 03/01/2022 21:14

Have you done the floppy arm test before attempting to transfer?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 03/01/2022 21:17

Permanent white noise on whilst she is falling asleep and transfer and asleep

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 03/01/2022 21:18

At 5 months, I’d start teaching her to fall asleep independently. With my first two DCs I did the whole rock-to-sleep thing for many many many months. But DC3 is a 20-pounder at 6 months so there’s just no way my back could handle it! We used the Ferber approach for nights at 4 months, and once he’d figured out nights (took about 4 days) the naps started working themselves out too. Now he fusses for 2-5 minutes in his crib when I put him down awake at nap time, then magically falls asleep by himself. Ohhhh how I’m kicking myself now for not doing this earlier with the older two, hahaha!

3dc here and I wouldn't bother trying either if it doesn't work for them. All of mine have slept fine in a sling/next to me but none would sleep for long unaccompanied and often woke up no matter how good the "transfer" was.

You'll find something that works for you
