I snore like a pig

We have a problem. I snore like a pig and this is causing us big problems. DW just can?t sleep with my snoring and last night was a nightmare.

Previously DS slept in a cot, us in a double and halfway through the night I would be exiled to the spare room to sleep in the single bed.

DS is now sleeping in that single bed so that?s not an option any more and anyway, me sleeping in a single bed doesn?t exactly strengthen our relationship!

Can anyone recommend any remedies to snoring OTHER THAN the extremely painful palate surgery, the herbal sprays (been there, done that), the adhesive nose strips that fit over your shnoz or the little rubber clips that go up your shnoz??

Watching this thread with interest, DC. My commiserations to your wife (and to you, of course, obviously, but the pigginess is quite hard to endure)

sorry, can't help you there.
My DH snores like a walrus and he has been in the same room as ds1 for 16 months (have had ds2 in that period and what with baby who's in with me waking in the night a few times and snoring dh it's the only way we can grab any sleep between us)

It is, however, a fantasitc form of contraception

ear plugs

Have you noticed any triggers that make your snoring worse? I too sleep next to the world's loudest snorer and he is trying to do something about it (because I'm a light sleeper and it's starting to drive me mad).

I have noticed the following - red wine makes the snoring much worse, losing weight DEFINITELY decreased the volume/frequency of snoring. So I would say, if you have a few pounds you could lose, it would certainly be worth doing that.

Other than that, I don't think there's anything that can be done.

Ear plugs ? tried them. DW actually hears the snoring straight through them! She also finds them very uncomfortable.

Alcohol doesn?t seem to help. I?ve cut that down quite a bit. I used to drink at least one to two beers or shots of whiskey per night. Nothing much but I don?t think it does me any favours.

I?m not overweight but I have gained a considerable amount of weight over the last four years. I used to be a skinny rake. It?s no surprise but the snoring started when I started gaining weight.

I guess I?ll have to lose a bit of weight but I?m not very heavy as it is ? 5.8 ft, 11 stone.

If you wear pjs then sewing a cotton reel onto the inside of the back of the collar is quite helpful - it stops you turning onto your back, and snoring is generally worse when you lie on your back.

Dh snores more when he is over-tired. Drinking alcohol and eating a heavy supper also make it worse.

oh me too and it's awful! I feel really sorry for dp,have tried allsorts, i snore when I drink and when I don't.

Recently went on a hen night to London and had to share a room, I was sooooo embarrassed in the morning when my mate told me she had to have a pillow clamped over her head to keep the noise out
