Love to dream swaddle safe for 2 month old?

Hi, we’ve had our baby in a love to dream swaddle since birth and he’s now 9 weeks. He has colic but does well at night - one night he did a 7 hour stretch! But always does at least 4-5 hours.

I got paranoid recently when I found that all my NCT group are using sleeping bags instead, some of them say because they think their baby May roll over. I then noticed that he was rocking a bit in his crib (or maybe it was just wiggling?) I then decided we should put him in a sleeping bag.

But for the last 2 nights with the sleeping bag he’s been waking up crying and wanting to be fed after only 2 hours!

Surely 9 weeks is too early for him to possibly roll onto his tummy from his back, and with the design of the love to dream his arms are still quite mobile in there as they’re up by his face for self soothing (not like a traditional swaddle where arms are really restricted) so we feel like even if he did roll all the way over he would be able to move his arms to turn his head right?

Just wondered if anyone could advise their experiences or thoughts. His startle reflex is really strong and he loves the love to dream so much, it feels to early to transition him out of it but I’m an anxious new mum who is worried about SIDS all the time ☹️

I should point out I saw him rocking/wiggling on the monitor (when I was in bed next to him in the crib) and that’s when I worried. And he does move around a lot in the love to dream in the night, sometimes he’s sideways but always still on his back.

Hi! My little one is 11 weeks and in a love to dream swaddle too. It’s impossible to get her to sleep without having her arms in as she keeps startling herself and waving her arms all over. I think with the arms being in the air like that it prevents them from rolling over easily. I did swaddle her with arms down but changed for that very reason.

At the moment she shows little signs of being able to roll over, so I feel okay, but really should look at transitioning her soon. Hoping her startle reflex will die down soon too Smile

@Thefaceofboe thank you! It’s so hard isn’t it. Love to dream do transition swaddles so we’re thinking about getting one of those soon. The sleeping bag just doesn’t work fir us at the moment xx

My youngest rolled at 7 weeks so it’s definitely not impossible! When I lived in the US the advice was that swaddling beyond 8 weeks is dangerous, which makes sense to me given one of mine rolled very early, but people in the U.K. seem to keep their babies swaddled for ages…

My baby can't roll over at four months but at 16 weeks we moved out of L2D arms up swadddle because she started being able to kick her legs high and then turn herself in her next to me. She has adjusted fine.

I think mine could roll about then or a week or two later. he was crawling by 4 months .
So I probably would persevere with the sleeping bag change.
