13 Month Old Night Wakings Driving Me Nuts

I'm hoping someone can shed some light. My 13 Month Old DS2 falls asleep himself in his cot (we used the Ferber method at 12 months please don't judge as it worked amazing for DS1 and there was minimal crying) but he wakes up during the night and I have to physically lie in the cot with him I don't pat him or anything just lay there, he will toss and turn and flip around the cot, eyes closed this goes on for hour's, and the second I close the door he's screaming. Anytime he turns over in his sleep it's like he automatically stands up holds onto the rail of the cot and starts jumping and screaming. This stops the second I go in. Hes not hungry and his nappy is fine how do I help him to sleep, I'm at my wits end DS1 never did this he would wake for milk but go back to sleep.

@n0shy have u made any progress at all?!
I hope your nights are a little better!
Ours are just the same with or without napConfused
So gone back to letting her have a nap so at least can have some respite. I also think now it maybe night terrors as I can never console her xx

PS controlled crying honestly made no difference to us ( which i could t understand, as I was a firm believer in this and that it would definitely work)
I did it for months and months and honestly just never made a slight difference xx so doesn't work for everyone xx

Hi @n0shy , just checking in.
Are things any better for you now?? Xx

@TinyDancer275 we had a few days where he slept through untill 6am but it was random odd days other than that it has calmed down a bit to twice a night most nights still exhausted though he's been teething aswell and we've had colds DS1 has chicken pox at the moment so I'm sure it's all going to go to pot again!

Controlled crying is leaving your baby to cry and going back in at set intervals until they sleep, then repeat every time they wake all night. It usually works in 3 days. And is quite distressing even for that short time. I really hope you didn't do it for months on end.

Hey @n0shy,
Oh gosh, it really sounds like you're going through it! There's always something isn't there!!
At least he seems a little bit better than he was! Really hope he continues to improve.

@SnackSizeRaisin .... thank you for the totally unnecessary, judgy comment. Way to kick a person when they're down!
I'm a good mum thank you and don't need people saying condescending comments like that. Find another thread!

@TinyDancer275 sorry for being harsh. I don't know you and am only judging from what you have written on here so please don't be offended. You said you did controlled crying for months.

Hey ladies.

We are in similar position with our lo too! She is 13 months. Generally has 2 naps a day. Tends to go down easily at night.
She does tease us by sleeping through until between 6/7 some nights and others She is up at some stage.
However, she won't come into our bed....never has, which is the problem! If we hear her awake we know it could be a 2 hour round trip to get her to sleep again!!! She will eventually settle with a bottle, music & my Dyson hairdryer (I know sounds crazy but does help!!!) going!!! A full in ritual!!! Try to keep things quiet so as not to wake the other 2 as they have school next day.
She is teething and like all of you I keep reminding myself, this too will pass!
Sitting outside her room here, hairdryer going and looking through mumsnet, so could be worse I suppose!
Hope all your babas are asleep now.
Solidarity 💞

Hi @rodarrrach, oh gosh that sounds stressful!!
It's hard when you've got other children top isn't it!!
Have u got a noise machine you could use instead of the hairdryer maybe? Could save you having to get up and put it on lol!
You do anything that works tho don't you!!
It's so strange when sometimes they sleep through and surprise you. I find that by that point I'm so on edge and anxious I can't sleep anyway as waiting for them to wake up!
My little one is currently head banging right now, very loudly, has been doing since 4 am. But that's a good night for us!
I however haven't slept a wink but up for work in 20mins!

Thank you for the nice message, it is nice for is all to be able to support each other as can be such a stressful time! X
