Sleep training - any recommendations??

So I have a 7 and half month old baby boy. He used to sleep so well every night from 7-7 at 5 months he went through sleep regression and has not been the same since.
We have always been very consistent with his bed time routine all though through the night he will wake 4/5 times sometimes more he will still have a bottle in the night which I know he doesn't need he just has it for comfort, he will Litreally drink 1 or 2 oz.
He is still sleeping in my room with me and partner.
I know it's time to sleep train and I'm due to go back to work in a few months and It's going to kill me I also don't want these bad habits dragging into his toddler years.
Has anyone sleep trained their baby? Has anyone got any recommendations please?

Can lo go in own room. I had 4/5 wake up in night then moved her to her own room and slept much better. Not perfect as still a baby but may help?

Yeah, I think this is something I might do as of tonight, he has black out blinds in his room too which I think will help.

I would try own room first with a very set consistent bedtime routine and then go from there first. But thats me

We were in a very similar situation - waking 5 times a night for feeds (breastfed) since the four month regression. We sleep trained using the gradual retreat method at 7 months and it worked a treat - down from 5 wakings a night to one on the first night. You're in the room with them as they fall asleep, gradually reducing your presence, so it's a good approach if you're worried about leaving them to cry. For us the major issue was that I had been feeding her to sleep, and this was a way to break that habit, which immediately cut out all but the hunger related night wakings. How is he getting to sleep? I suspect it's most effective if the core issue is falling asleep in a way that isn't constant through the night

Thank you all, I've spoke with my partner after work. We are going to put him own room as of the weekend and we need to move his cot from our room to his, but tonight we done our normal routine bath bottle bed, but I didn't feed him to sleep, I have him a cuddle lay him in his cot patted his bum and he went straight to sleep in 2 minuets. I'm Going to be consistent with this over the next few days and see how we get on, if he wakes in the night I'll do the same.

I'm still very open to any tips or advice anyone has. Thank you all for your advise. X Smile

Don’t bother! He’ll get there in his own time - just try and get some rest when you can. 7-7 is completely unfair and unrealistic for lots of babies, they are all individual.

I really believe this to be untrue as when he was 9 months old he started sleeping 7-7 without me trying anything that's just what he done and he done it until he was 5 months old. I understand he will do it when he's ready but unfortunately Me being sleep deprived and he's grumpy in the day too because I can tell he's not getting enough sleep it's working for our family anymore. Im just going to see what we can do Smile

I would recommend pick up put down method and make sure he is put in his cot sleepy but awake. Then try to make sure he has enough milk in the day (I used to count the total amount he drank everyday), then wean him off night feeds. When going to him in the night try to comfort him by eventually not picking him up or rocking etc, belly rubs, singing, bum pat's etc. He will get there without you doing anything but it will def take longer without any of the above steps.

Yes have to agree with this! Baby isleep is so up and down in the first couple of years, there’s lots of development going on and teething etc. It won’t be forever and they will get there! My 2nd is 9 months old and was also sleeping through from 3 - 4 1/2 months it’s so normal! I know it’s so tiring though!

Sorry meant 2-4 1/2 months!
