I just need some advice/help on where to start to get my DD to sleep in her own cot. She is 2years old and always rolls over into our bed during the night. I already know I have made plenty of mistake when it comes to her sleep an I accept that. She has not been the best sleeper for a very very long time, since I can remeber really.

No spare bedrooms so she's always slept in the same room. Originally the cot was away from us an at the end of the bed like corner of the room. She would constantly wake during the night an it was draining to constantly sit on the floor for hours tapping her to sleep. I tried to do gentle sleep training an that didn't work too as she was too hysterical an would vomit. Then I eventually told DH to join the cot onto the bed so it would be easier jus to lay next to her until she fell asleep.

Now obviously it's just gone too far to the point she is constantly rolling over into our bed. Whenever I try move her back she screams and cries. DH has work so often gives in an let's her come into the bed. Recently it's been a lot worse an i just cannot take the lack of sleep anymore.

I was thinking to move the cot back to the end of the bed an just explain she can't sleep in mummies bed an jus lay on the floor next to cot. Obviously there will be a lot of crying an wake ups during the night. I just don't know what to do or where to start?

Sorry for the really long message I'm just so fed up an tried. Thank you for reading

If there is no option to move the cot into baby's own room, then I'd keep the cot next to your bed. Her being in your room but away from you will just frustrate her further.

Is she rolling into your bed while asleep?

If so, a £2 pool noodle placed under the cot bottom sheet makes a low barrier to stop her rolling over accidentally, so keep her in the cot.

If you have (Or could buy) a drop-side cot, then having the side dropped down makes a short barrier between your bed and cot, but low enough for you to reach over.

If you've done lots of chopping and changing with your toddler a comfort in sleep, then the central issue now will be that she feels insecure that comfort will be consistently avaliable to get at night. So being compassionate as well as consistent will be very important in your case.
