Baby won't keep arms still! Sleepless nights are killing me

My 11 week old daughter is a wriggler in bed and loves to fling her arms about and whack and rub her face so much that she won't got down to sleep because of it and wakes herself up doing it after 20 minutes at most! Swaddling used to work but she's gotten too strong recently and can easily break out of them. I bought a love to dream swaddle up, thinking that if she had her arms up she'd be happy but she's managing to whack her face agressively while she's meant to be asleep as I type this.
Is there anything I can do or buy to help stop this as it keeps her and me up and I'm sick of sleeping 3 hours a night! I can't even nap when she does because she sleeps on me in the day! (It's not like I can put her down for naps when this is what she's like in the moses basket lol)

What if you swaddle with a think giant muslin, then zip her into the Love to Dream over the top?

Unhelpfully for you, I think this is completely normal and there's not a lot you can do. Try swaddling very firmly - watch some videos or something. But for us it was a sleepyhead that helped as she couldn't get a full range of movement with her thrashing and it absorbed some of the impact. Eventually they just stop doing it. Hold in there.

Omg my DS does this too it's so frustrating as he is exhausted but continuously does it and pulls his dummy out and then cries and whinges 🤣

Grosnug?

drinkingcherrywine · 18/11/2021 22:08

get a woombie or 3, they are magic for wrigglers...

Could she be cold? The moro reflex (throwing arms out sideways) can be set off by babies being cold.

I swear by the swaddles with Velcro. My baby manages to break out a bit if she thrashes around for ages but I just re fasten the Velcro and she eventually tires herself out.

My DD was unswaddlable. I tried so many, then one 2am made a desperate Amazon purchase of a Miracle Blanket on a random internet recommendation. It actually worked! It's got some little flaps inside which pin their arms by their sides. It was a game changer for us.

Grosnug, definitely

(I think they are called a 'grobag snuggle' these days and made by tommee tippee)

It's called the Moro reflex. Swaddling will help until it goes away at around 3/4 months
