HElp my normal good sleeping 2 year old is turning in to a nightmare!
I have stopped her day time sleeps because she was waking in the night but now despite going to bed later (used to go at 5.30 now goes at 6) she is still waking between 5.30 and 6. she is wide awake too!

So do i leave her to winge or do i try rapid return? Im knackered!!!

I would put her to bed later, so she wakes up a little later.

mishytoeandwine · 13/12/2007 10:39

I would let her go to bed a bit later, i.e. perhaps 6.30 or maybe even 7.00pm. It seems the older they get, the less sleep they need.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 13/12/2007 10:40

I would put her to bed at 7pm every night. 11 hours sleep is probably enough for her, it is for my dd1.

THelesbellsRINGOUTFORCHRISTMAS · 13/12/2007 10:40

thats 12 hours straight? blimey i would be elated if my dd slept for that long

bonkerzaboutxmas · 13/12/2007 10:42

i thought that 2 year olds needed 14 hours sleep in total??????? Thing is by 6 she is so wingey its impossible to keep her up any longer!!!!!!

Can you keep her up later, or is she too grotty to stay up? 6 pm does seem quite early. DD2 (2yo) goes to bed between 6.30 & 7. She went through a period of waking up this early, but now I have to wake her at 8 am. On the other hand, my niece will wake at 5.30 whatever time she goes to bed. I think my DD sleeps longer since she went into a bed, if she does wake up that early she can get up and play in her room or come and climb into bed beside me and play while I doze.

11 or 12 hours is plenty for some small children. In fact, I don't know that many two year olds who sleep for 14 hours.

So let her have short nap during the day so not goosed at 5.30 or 6.00pm (which is still the afternoon in our world) and then put bed at 7.30/8.00. After a few days I would put money on her sleeping until 7.00am ish.

wardrobemistressakasugarfree · 13/12/2007 10:52

Bonkers-did you read that in a book?
Throw the book away m'dear!
11-12 hours overnight sounds good to me.
I've got an early rising 4 year old and I just go to bed at 10-10.30ish these days in order to function.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 13/12/2007 11:32

I go to bed most nights at 9pm because dd2 (nearly four) is up at 6am and dd2 (aged two) is awake two-three times a night

bonkerzaboutxmas · 13/12/2007 11:48

ok will try the shorter nap and later bed. Now how do i explain later bed time for baby sister to a son who goes to bed at 6.30 every night?? Cant put him to bed later as he is on the3 autistic spectrum and NEEDS his sleep or days are spent screaming and raging!1!
